Pop punk is a genre that, like the title suggests, mixes pop and punk into one sound. Typically combining a fast tempo, often with a punk theme, along with pop-influenced melodies.
Some of the first big name pop punk bands include Green Day, Blink-182, and Sum 41.
Newer pop punk (2015 onwards) also include some emo into the mix, particularly in the lyrics. Bands like this include Neck Deep, Modern Baseball, and The Wonder Years.
Older pop punk tends to be more political, taking more influence from punk than pop, while newer pop punk tends to be a bit more on the poppy side, singing about relationships, broken hearts, and hanging out with your buddies.
Pop punk tattoos tend to be mainly in American and neo traditional styles, along with blackwork.
Some great tattoos for all the great mothers out there! Happy Mothers Day!
The classic “mom” tattoo is an American traditional heart with the word “mom”. Nowadays there are many more versions of this, done in colour, black and grey, and many different styles including American traditional, neo traditional, dotwork, blackwork, cross stitch, and realism. Now there is also more than just the heart as a design. There can be flowers, birds, landscapes, and more meaningful pieces that really relate to a specific mom.

Reuben is a tattoo artist working out of Kapala Tattoo in Winnipeg. His main styles are American traditional and Japanese. Along with tattooing, Reuben also paints; mainly Japanese inspired images.
Reuben has years of experience under his belt and is a pleasure to be tattooed by. Even while tattooing my stomach which is quite a tender area, he was able to take my mind off the pain with conversation.
Reuben has been doing larger pieces recently including half and full sleeves. His American traditional pieces are reminiscent of the old days, but have a twist of newer style, particularly while tattooing lady heads.
His Japanese work is bold, often featuring waves or flowers, which really make the main center piece of the tattoo pop. His Japanese work is generally done large in a arm or leg sleeve.
Reuben is a must see artist for your traditional or Japanese tattoo needs.
